THE STORY OF YACHT CONCEPT
Technical Director, Chantier Fountaine-Pajot
Laurent Da Rold, future managing director of Yacht Concept, gained solid experience as technical director at the Fountaine-Pajot shipyard, where he honed his engineering and project management skills.
Creation of Yacht Concept
Yacht Concept, founded in 2004 in La Rochelle by Laurent Da Rold, specializes in project management for the yachting industry.
From the outset, the company has adopted an innovative concept: it takes charge of projects in their entirety, from design to launch.
This model enables Yacht Concept to work with a wide range of industry players, including naval architects and shipyards.
Participation in the rebuilding of the Hermione frigate
Yacht Concept has been entrusted with an emblematic project: the rebuilding of the Hermione frigate, a historic French ship. As project manager, Yacht Concept is contributing to the rebirth of this symbol of maritime heritage, demonstrating its expertise in historical replicas and respect for artisanal methods.
Custom-made project development
Yacht Concept specializes in managing projects of all sizes, from start to finish, with an emphasis on customization and innovation.
Creation of Chantier de l’Arsenal
Yacht Concept joins forces with the company Asselin to create Chantier de l’Arsenal in La Rochelle. The shipyard specializes in custom-built boats, combining a design office and a shipyard to take complete charge of all types of composite projects.
Yacht Concept carries out the Hermione’s first sea trials
In 2014, the Hermione frigate was finally launched, marking an essential milestone in the project and enabling sailing in Europe and America for historical and educational events.
The first DAY 1
Later, the company expanded its expertise with a range of custom-built catamarans, the DAY 1 catamarans, aimed at the day-trip market.
The DAY 1 catamaran range reflects our commitment to innovation and eco-design, enabling customers to customize their catamarans to suit a variety of commercial and tourist uses.
Development of the One Shape® process
In 2015 Yacht Concept and Chantier de l’Arsenal launched One Shape®. An innovative process that eliminates the use of traditional molds, reducing costs, lead times and environmental impact. This method creates lightweight, high-performance ships from recycled PET foam panels, while optimizing manufacturing and integrating sustainable materials such as flax fibers and bio-based resins.
The OMNI: Objet Musical Non Identifié
The OMNI (literally, the UMO: Unidentified Musical Object) is a musical piece of art designed by architect Patrice Moulet, in collaboration with teams from Yacht Concept and Chantier de l’Arsenal.
The first plans were drawn up in 2020. Measuring 15.60 meters in diameter and 2 meters thick, the work is made up of 64 glass-polyester sandwich panels.
Yacht Concept, initially specialized in catamaran design, diversifies its scope with the OMNI, which is installed in Hangzhou, China. This immersive work combines art, technology and acoustics, offering a unique sensory experience.
International recognition
Yacht Concept is now internationally recognized for its expertise, continuous innovation and commitment to quality.
Our team remains committed to offering tailor-made solutions, combining rigor, methodology and cost control, while respecting deadlines.
